During Game 4 of the playoff basketball game between the Cleveland Caveliers and the Boston Celtics, Cavs forward Kevin Love dislocated his shoulder while fighting for a loose ball with Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk. Love's arm was clearly seen being clamped down by Olynyk and during the scuffle it ended up being dislocated, causing Love to almost certainly miss the rest of the playoffs. In Adam Himmelsbach's interview with Kelly Olynyk he says that Love "clamped me first and then I clamped him back and we were wrestling for the ball." Then Olynyk says I tried to hold him from the ball so my teammate could grab the ball. He didn't know anything wrong happened until he saw Kevin running off the court with his arm facing the wrong way.
I understand that rough play happens all the time in the game of basketball. I know this first hand as I am a huge basketball fan and a player myself and I have even broken a bone while playing. But I watched this play on T.V. and I think the play was fair until Olynyk decided to violently move his arm while he and Love were tangled up. I wouldn't say Kelly was trying to necessarily dislocate Kevin Love's shoulder but I think he was definitely trying to twist his arm so he could prevent Love from grabbing the basketball ball. The series has also been rather physical as almost all playoff games are, but this play seemed just a little bit too over the top. At least Kelly Olynyk had the guts to apologize.
great job!
